What is the Going Green Directory?The Going Green Directory is a "green" (concerning the environment as well as environmentally friendly or energy-conserving) directory with an African focus. We created this directory for two reasons: firstly, in order to assist people in finding green products, services, activities and organisations and secondly, in order to assist organisations (businesses, institutions, NPOs etc) in reaching as many people as possible. Our wish is that you enjoy using the Directory! How do I find something in the Directory?There are many ways to find things in the Directory:

Who can list in the Directory?In order to make the directory as useful as possible the focus of the directory is purposely limited to "green" listings. Listings that will most likely not be included in the directory are listings that deal with sexuality, spiritualism and alternative medical professions not listed with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. In the interests of maintaining the African focus of the directory, listings are restricted to organisations with offices in Africa. Does it cost something to list in the Directory?Yes - but it's FREE. Provided that there is some green aspect to your business or organisation and provided that you have offices in Africa, your listing will be published at no cost to you. How do I add a listing?You must be logged in to add a listing. Log in by typing your username and password into the Login form in the left panel of the Directory page. Click on the login button. Once you have logged in click on the "Add Listing" link on the Directory page. You will then be presented with a form to fill in. Enter your details and submit the form. If you do not already have a username and password then click on the "Create an account" link in the Login form. You will then be able to create your own User Profile and password. For protection purposes a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered. Once you have activated your account you will be able to add a listing as described above. All this computer stuff scares me or I don't want to spend so much time online - isn't there some other way to submit a listing?To keep things simple on our side we would prefer it if you create a listing via the method described in FAQ: How do I add a listing? If however, you would prefer to use some other method, you are also most welcome to submit a listing by either:
Why do I need to create a user account and login to add a listing?Your user account is simply a way for us to convey special editing privileges solely to you while simultaneously protecting your listing. It enables us to contact you regarding your listing. Once your listing has been published you can login and edit it at any time (see FAQ: How do I edit my listing?). Why does my listing have to be approved first?Your listing must first be approved before it is published. This is a precautionary measure on our side in order to maintain the quality, functionality and focus of the Directory - a directory without a focus is of no help to anyone (see also FAQ: Who can list in the Directory?). How many categories can I suggest for my listing?You can suggest up to 5 categories - see the category descriptions given. To maintain the quality, functionality and focus of the Directory, however, we request that you restrict suggestions to those categories which closely describe your listing. How can I link to you? / How can I indicate that I am listed in the Going Green Directory?You are welcome to link to us. We suggest that you link to our homepage ( http://www.goinggreen.co.za/ ) or to the Going Green Directory ( http://www.goinggreen.co.za/directory.html ) overview page since links to other pages are more likely to change from time to time. If you have a listing in the Going Green Directory then you are welcome to use one of the following buttons on your webpage. Simply paste the code on the right into the html.  
If you know how to do it, you are also welcome to save the relevant button to your server and to change the code accordingly. How do I edit/delete my listing?There are two ways in which you can edit/delete your listing. 1) Once you have logged in, click on My Profile & Listings on the login page. You will see your User Profile summary at the top of the page and your details and your Going Green listings in various tabs below this. Click on the "GG Directory" tab and you will find a table of all your listings, each with an "Edit" and a "Delete" button. Select the appropriate listing, click on the "Edit" button, change your details in the form provided and then click on the "Submit" button. Your listing will temporarily be removed from the Directory for evaluation purposes. We will notify you once it has been republished. Alternatively, if you would like to delete your listing, simply click on the "Delete" button, confirm your intention, and your listing will be removed from the Directory. OR 2) Once you have logged in, Find your listing (see FAQ: How do I find something in the Directory?). Once you have found your listing, you will notice that there are two buttons visible. Click on the "Edit" button, change your details in the form provided and then click on the "Submit" button. Your listing will temporarily be removed from the Directory for evaluation purposes. We will notify you once it has been republished. Alternatively, if you would like to delete your listing, simply click on the "Delete" button, confirm your intention, and your listing will be removed from the Directory. I made a mistake but I've submitted my listing - now it has disappeared - I wanted to change something - what do I do?Once you have submitted your listing it is temporarily removed from the Directory for evaluation purposes. We will notify you once it is published after which you are welcome to edit it and resubmit it for approval. Can I search the directory directly from my browser search box?
