The Mathews family placed their first footprint in the Kalahari some 40 years ago when grandfather Charlie fell in love with the quiet, endlessly rolling thornveld. His decision to buy land in the region proved fortuitous as we have since discovered that we are blessed to farm in one of the healthiest cattle breeding zones of the world! John has continued in his dad’s footsteps. His passion for cattle farming and his positive experience raising healthy cows and beautiful weaners in the region prompted him to buy the farm adjacent to his dad. “My experience has been one of continued awe. Mother Nature is still so healthy and balanced that animals find all the sustenance they need in the natural grass, the bush and even the pods of the abundant Camelthorn trees. High fertility levels, exceptional good health and remarkable weight gains are characteristics of our animals.” As a farming family we are commited to our role as “custodians” of nature and so strive to impact the environment as gently as possible.

• We stock the farms conservatively to prevent overgrazing.
• Stocking rates are always lower than the recommended regional norms.
• No hormone growth implants are used... never... ever!
• All beef marketed is guaranteed free of antibiotics.
• Our animals are marketed straight from the Kalahari grasslands and never experience the stress of life in enclosed feedlots.
• Our animals are all reared on grass rather than being grain fed. This is signficant as grass fed beef is proven rich in Omega – 3 fats, while grain fed beef has Omega – 6 fats.
