Founded in 2006, our mission is to document, research and further understanding and knowledge in the fields of ecology and anthropology in southern Africa that is useful to the greater scientific community, relevant to local stakeholders and prioritises continued integrity.
Our research divisions are: biodiversity, culture and linguistics, design and craft art, and education and outreach.
We are field-based, aimed at facilitating the work of researchers. We assist by providing study sites, accommodation, food and other logistics. We provide a field lab office with access to telecommunications. We assist with the fieldwork itself with our manager, our technicians and by sourcing local fieldworkers. We provide services to natural resource managers looking to outsource their ecological and spatial projects. We host students for projects for undergraduate degrees, technical diplomas and theses/dissertations. Our volunteer programme offers a wide variety of projects for people interested in getting out into the field to address important questions, gain experience, and gain skills.
