As always South African ingenuity has come to the forefront at a time when the oil price has finally surpassed $100 a barrel and concerns about carbon emissions and climate change are on the increase across the globe. We reveal a world first - a proudly South African zero-fuel, zero-emission motorbike!

The mastermind behind the bike - Jonathan

This inspired creation is the work of a local talented artist called Jonathan. You have to admit it made you smile :) The world is definitely a wonderful place and the Eastern Cape is truly blessed with some creative people!

Jonathan has a wonderful talent. He creates the designs for these motorbike "fittings" to bicycles by simply working from pictures in magazines. The frames are made by twisting wire and then covering the structure with plastic. If you have a design in mind and would like Jonathan to take a shot at modelling it for you then you can contact him on 079 5271267 (the number of his sister Joyce). If you need to send him a picture then please send it to us via email and we will see that he gets it.
